W.E.L.D.E.R. version1.2 is out! Gigawatts are here!

We are very excited to announce that version 1.2 is out, and on sale for a limited time for only 99c! This is a major content update with new tiles, new abilities and with Gigawatts a whole new level of depth to the gameplay! Update for free by visiting the app store on your device.

First off, starting at level 10 we are introducing Toxic Tiles. These are tiles that you must get rid of immediately, as you will score no points while they are on the board! Like Hot Tiles, they can’t be swapped but they will fall. Don’t worry, we’ve adjusted the difficulty of the later levels to account for the extra challenge!

Our main new addition is the concept of Gigawatts. This is a kind of in-game energy that you earn while you play. Gigawatt points persist between games – the points you earn in one game can be saved for use in the next, or the next… You start with 1,000 Gigawatts and you can earn more by welding the new Gigawatt tiles, spelling eight letter words and following us on Twitter!

But what can you use them for? This is where it gets good. You can use your Gigawatts to activate the new Wrench, which enables you to swap Hot, Broken and Toxic Tiles. Incredibly useful on the later levels! You can also use them to get new swaps when you’re running out with an Instant Swap Refill, and even get extra Apocalypse Swaps when you’ve already used one up!

We have worked hard to ensure that the game remains balanced, that Gigawatts add a layer of depth without making the game too easy, and that players who aren’t interested in exploring the new features can continue to play and enjoy W.E.L.D.E.R. as they always have. We’ve also fixed some bugs and by popular demand added an “Are you sure?” confirmation box so you don’t start again from the beginning unless you really want to!
