Two big news Items today!

First up is the release of W.E.L.D.E.R. Wars, a standalone two player only version of W.E.L.D.E.R., which is completely free to download and play! Like to compete? Don’t like to spend money? Then this is for you! Available for download on the App Store right now!

And also released today: W.E.L.D.E.R. 3.0! This is a major update with many often requested new features and a new bonus mode!

Here’s the list:

Now includes iPhone 5 support!

2 PLAYER:

REMATCH! Tap the rematch button from the past games list or game complete screen to play your opponent again. A much requested feature that is excusively available in iOS 6.
Forfeiting! After 7 days of not playing your turn, your game will be forfeited and the other player will win!
Read chats at end of game: tap the chat button to scroll through your snarky stabs at your opponent. No replying though. Gotta rematch for that.
The past games list now shows the final game score. Which is nice, right?
Resign when it is not your turn: enter the ‘not your turn’ mode and tap ‘resign’ to resign your game. Hey, we’re just giving you options, quitter.
Accept and decline Game Invites: when a yellow Invite appears, upon tapping on it, you now have the option to decline the game. And lose.
Remove your old games in the games list: tap on the game to be given the option to remove it. For all of you out there that just need a clean weldspace.
Skip during playback: once playback starts, tap SKIP to start your turn straight away.
Gigawatt score bonus bug fixes– the Gigawatt Score Bonus upgrade now works correctly in 2 Player, and the correct bonus is displayed when you win a game.
Various other bug fixes and interface improvements.

Challenges in iOS 6! Challenge your friends to beat Leader Board scores or complete Achievements!
The all new HOT CHALLENGE! Unlock for 750 Gigawatts. Features 12 new levels and new game play! All the Hot Tiles are armed with mines. Get the Hot Tiles to the bottom row to disarm the mines and complete the level. Starts easy and gets HARD!
‘Restart From Last Level’ option is now available on the Broken Challenge and the new Hot Challenge. But c’mon, who needs that really?
Undo your last word formed– if you form a word you can now undo it just like a normal undo. OMG!! The most requested feature of all time and it is buried all the way down here!
Undo your last swap in single player: when you use your last swap without forming a word, you can undo the move. Handy!
Lookup Words revolutionized! Swipe up UP on the gauges to open a new ‘Lookup Words’ popup. And we made using is much easier.
We added a toggle for the ‘Weld of the Day’ notifications in the Options menu. In case those types of things drive you mad.
Now you can tap the Menu button again to close the Game Menu when it is open. FYI this is the greatest thing we have ever done.
Orientation bug fix– now the game flips correctly when you flip your device. Sorry we broke that.
Various other bug fixes and interface improvements.

Post your 2 Player game activity to Twitter and Facebook! If you really beat up your opponent let the world know!
New 2 Player Leader boards! New 2 Player Achievements!
Nudge your friends! If your opponent has not played their move in 24 hours you can send them a nudge!
Improved Resign– now if your opponent Resigns you get the win and the Gigawatt Score Bonus. Must be at least 1000 total points scored in the game.
Quick Match! Tap the Match! button in 2 Player to quickly start a game with a random word master.
Retina welding! Now the welding animation is RETINA for the iPad 3! We are 101% retina now!
Fixed a crash on startup that some users were having. Sorry!

Now with with the release of OSX Mountain Lion with our latest update you can play two player on W.E.L.D.E.R. Mac ! Play your friends on iPad or iPhone as well! It’s completely compatible!

We have also updated the iOS version. This will fix two player crashes for the minority of players who are still experiencing them.

W.E.L.D.E.R. iOS 2.03 is here!

This update fixes crashes that a small proportion of our players were experiencing in 2.02 multiplayer. 2.03 still contains some stability issues related to these crashes, and we are submitting a new update to Apple ASAP! For now if you are still on 2.01 with ongoing multiplayer games we recommend you remain with 2.01. If you do not have any active multiplayer games, 2.03 adds a number of great features to both single player and multiplayer and we recommend you update! Thanks for your support!

The new features are:

Wrench persists between games. Got some wrenches left over? Now you’ll have them in your next game!
Never lose your last multiplayer swap– now you can undo your last swap of your turn!
Looking up a word in the game menu will now show you the word score!
Fixed shake to undo!
Fixed a visual glitch where swaps did not appear to update
Fixed a bug where iCloud button on iPhone was not functioning correctly
Fixed the 8 letter word leader board which was broken
Your opponent’s name will stop flashing when a mine is triggered in a multiword
Fixed a visual glitch in the 2x End of Level Bonus upgrade meter

One of our most requested features has finally arrived! For the first time it is now possible to play W.E.L.D.E.R. against your friends!

W.E.L.D.E.R. uses Game Center to match you up with opponents. You can either play your existing friends (invited from within the Game Center app) or a random opponent.

To start a game:

From the W.E.L.D.E.R. home screen hit the “2 Player” button.
Tap “Start New Game”. This brings up the Game Center interface with a list of your current games (if any). To add a new game tap the “+” in the upper right corner.
You will see the new game with yourself as the first player and “Auto-Match” as the second. If you want to play a random opponent you can just tap “Play Now” to get taken to the game! In an Auto-Match game you may join a game in which your opponent has already made the first move. If you invite a friend you will always get to start.
If you want to change the second slot from “Auto-Match” to a Game Center friend tap “Invite Friend”. This will bring up a list. Select the friend you want to play then hit “Next”. Type an optional message to them. Hit “Send” and you will be taken back to the game screen. Hit “Play Now” and start playing!

W.E.L.D.E.R. two player (W.E.L.D.E.R. Wars) is a turn based game. Each player gets five basic swaps in their turn to score as many points as they can, or make life harder for their opponent. The game is 85 words long. When 85 words have been welded the game is over and the player with the highest score is the winner!

At the start of the turn you can either choose to watch your opponent’s moves or just skip straight to the board. Before you start swapping you will get to choose one of three randomly selected powerups (out of five possibilities). The first of these will be free to use. If that one doesn’t suit you can pick one other other two at a cost of 60 Gigawatts. Gigawatts can be earned by playing the single player game, winning a two player game, welding a Toxic Tile or in a variety of other ways. Tap the “Shop” button to see a comprehensive list.

The powerups!

Mines – Place two mines on the board at the end of your turn. You can’t place a mine on a Hot, Broken or Multiplier tile. If your opponent uses a mined tile in a word you will receive all the points! Your opponent will know that their are mines on the board, but not where they are. Be strategic!
Toxic Power – Your opponent will receive a randomly placed Toxic Tile on the board at the start of their turn. They will not be able to score any points until they have welded it in a word, which can be a mighty inconvenience when you only have 5 swaps to work with, but they will receive 30 points and 30 Gigawatts when they do.
+2 Swaps – Receive an extra two basic swaps for your turn. Really helps if you’re going for a longer word!
Special Swap – Receive one special swap to use during your turn. You can use this for a Reverse swap, a Group swap or a Jump swap. You will be able to see the tutorials for how to activate these swaps when you select this powerup. This can be a lifesaver if the board is looking dangerous!
The Wrench – This enables you to swap Hot, Broken and Toxic tiles for the duration of your turn. This can really open up the board!

After your first turn you can choose to skip powerups and receive 15 Gigawatts instead. Just tap “Skip” to go into your turn unarmed!

The turn ends when you have run out of swaps. You can end the turn early by tapping the “End Turn” button. You can hold over one swap to your next turn, so if you can’t see anything useful to do with your last swap hit “End Turn” and start your next turn with six!

You can chat with your opponent by tapping the C.H.A.T. (Conversational Hiatus Access Terminal) button. If they have sent a chat to you the C.H.A.T. button will be glowing.
