Hi,

I can assure you and our other users that all of the current Game Center leader boards have many very high pre-1.2 update scores, and/or scores that were very obtainable in prior versions.

We designed the update whereby it is not just buying points. While it may make it easier to score points by using your earned or purchased Gigawatts, it does not easily facilitate the 100 million plus scores that are currently on the leader board.

For advice on how to achieve those scores, check out these posts of our players, posted last year:

http://weldergame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=94

and

http://weldergame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=80.

But, we have heard this complaint from other users about this most recent update, and as I have previously posted in this thread, we are actively working on a way to further evaluate players in a competitive way using Game Center.

Me too.

While the very latest release is somewhat better than the disastrous one that it replaced, I'd still infinitely prefer the 'classic' one . Sans toxic tiles and their irritating sound effect - not to mention the impossibility of getting rid of them quickly at times and sans the annoying and somewhat silly $gigawatt$.

OK, it's somewhat better - with the previous release I got a toxic tile EIGHT times in about 13 turns and gave up playing. It just forces you to make short term decisions... instead of better words

With the current release I'm on level 13 and have 'only' got a TT about 5 times in 10 goes. Still too much in my opinion, but then, even once is too much for me.

What other word game punishes you for doing well? Why take a subtle and challenging word game and turn it into the equivalent of a whizzbang screechy boingo! boingo! thing that more belongs in a pinball arcade full of annoying sound effects? I could go on.

I still wish you'd make those 'improvements' you seem so wedded too - despite the flood of negative feedback - on as option modes, and roll it back to what it was. Which was great. As someon else said, you seem determined to prove to us that you know better than your customers and that we will come round to them. Isn't going to happen.

Ever heard of 'if it ain't broke, why fix it?'

Sigh.

This post speaks volumes as to how unclear the devs are with regards to how people play Welder and why. Many of us didn't play to get 100 million scores, we played to get our own best score, and sometimes will compare scores with friends via GC.

If I, or anyone else in our clan, can 'cheat' the scoring system by literally buying a high score secretly then the game is ruined. Even if my friends do not and would not cheat this way it's still an option that SHOULD NOT be there.

I cannot fathom what is going on in the devs minds and can only put it down to a lust for profit, even if that profit methodology is I'll-thought out and will be short lived.

Even with the most recent update the game is getting a beating on iTunes and if the next update, assuming there is one, does not put 'classic' back, something that surely isn't a major programming feat, then I guess I too, along with circa 20 friends will just have to move on.

Hi,

I was simply explaining the nature of the leader board high scores to another poster. We do not believe that every person plays for high scores.

Enough of leaderboards - don't care.

It would be much nicer if you would equally simply explain why you don't restore - or at the least make available - the classic version of the game that so many of us enjoyed.

Congrats. I haven't played since my last post and am so upset that I will likely delete the game.

Your decision to significantly alter the game and as well, to condone the cheat by doing nothing about it, including a reset of the leaderboards - or new leaderboards - has simply sucked all the joy and challenge out of the game.

I opened the game a few minutes ago, stared at the board for 15 seconds, and realized its just not fun anymore.

Another thing; reading back on a number of posts here, your attitude comes off as defensive. I used to play every day and had this sense that the challenge would never end. It did, far too quickly.

In the future, I can only hope you test the waters a lot more carefully before diving in. You HAD something really brilliant here.

Better luck next time.

Okay. I haven't played in probably three weeks. Just downloaded the new update. Melded one word and was greeted by THREE TOXIC TILES. The sound is as infuriating and annoying as before. If I can get 3 in one fricking turn, you have done nothing to improve this. I am so unhappy with what you have done. You took a great game and sucked EVERY BIT OF FUN OUT OF IT.

Oh, btw, the menu shows I have "earned" over 536,000,000 gigawatts. Congrats on screwing that up too. If you want a photo, email me at amn624@mail.com.

I just went back to the game. I could deal with the sound by turning it off but always found the background to be relaxing, so I'd lose that.

More importantly, I now have four blanks and with the 3 toxic tiles, it's just going to take too much time and effort before I can score another point. I have 19 swaps and will probably need them all just to get rid of the toxic tiles. Good grief, you killed this game.

Sorry, but you are totally insane. Your inability to escape the obvious conclusion so many others have come to is incomprehensible.

You are saying you received 3 Toxic Tiles at the same time?

That is not supposed to be possible and we have not heard of such a thing occurring. If you could provide more details on that it would be very helpful.

Yes, Gigawatts Earned Stat did not get properly nulled for updating users and if you had a game in progress it will give you a bogus number for that game. We will address that in an upcoming update.

Thanks

I suggest you check your code. I melded ONE word (but wound up scoring another in the same turn) which triggered THREE TOXIC TILES to descend. If you want the screen shot, I'll be happy to send it on.

I doubt I'm going to attempt to get rid of the tiles anyway. Even with 19 swaps remaining, it's just going to be zero fun and if I can't have any fun, then what the heck is the point?

Let me know if you want that screenshot. amn624 at gmail dot com.
